💻 Setting Up My Atlassian Account

Now that my domain is secured, it’s time to set up the Atlassian Cloud account — the real hub for my Jira + Confluence + team setup 🚀

Here’s how I did it, step by step:

I went to atlassian.com and signed up with an email.

originally signed up with my personal Gmail (😅 first mistake), but I knew that wouldn’t cut it long‑term. In case you did, you can change it to your domain-based email.

Enter your details, continue:

NOTE: Domain-based email keeps everything tied to my brand and makes domain verification way smoother later.

Now you are on Atlassian’s home directory:

You do not have any products to work with so let’s get started.

Click View all apps then Try Atlassian products.

I like how Atlassian categorize their products now, so I went ahead with IT Professionals and selected Jira Service Management (JSM).

JSM is a service‑desk‑style product built on Jira that focuses on handling requests from customers or employees (like IT support).

Feel free to explore other products based on your needs.

You will be prompted to sign up or login, as we have already signed up earlier, so we will continue logging in using our Gmail.

Create a site name (I went with something simple and close to my brand).

Choose what kind of work you do (I went with IT support).

Then you will get this…

Success! We have activated the collection! Click create space.

Space is dedicated container for organizing service requests, incidents, and related work items to help IT or service teams track and resolve customer issues efficiently.

There’s a lot to choose from because I focus on IT Service Desk so I went with IT service management.

Then click Try now.

Activate Premium for free for 30-days so you can explore! This is what I like with Atlassian.

You will be prompted for the Billing, you can add the details of payment here if you wish to continue, otherwise feel free to click Close. Another thing I like about it because you can just go on without inputting a payment especially if you are the one you forgot to cancel subscription like me lol

The price btw is about $80.49AUD as of this time if you wish to continue.

Now you can see this overview from your Admin dashboard

From the top left, click the App Switcher and select Jira Service Management, that’s it for the basic Atlassian setup.

This is just a very simple setting up an Atlassian Account if you want to explore yourself. I am exploring this myself too. I tried to capture all the steps hope I did not miss anything so far!

In the next post, I’ll walk you through:

Let’s go! 👨‍💻✨
